After the post of last week dedicated to the episode 4x20 of "Knight Rider", I wanted to watch carefully that episode and to my great delight I found some other locations that, unknowingly, I had visited during my visit to Universal Studios in 2009. In addition I also found another detail that ties "Knight Rider" to "Back to the Future", but please be patient... we'll get there in the end! So today will deepen the locations used in this episode, so the backlots that we will see are the "Western Street", "Denver Street", "European Street", the "Curse of the Mummy's Tomb" and the "Stage 3".

Below you can see an enlargement of the map where you can see with more detail the backlot "Western Street". This locations is used at the beginning of the episode, when the producer arrives on set to talk with the director.
In the next images you can compare the frame extracted from the episode with the photo taken by me. As you can see, there is the same building with wooden balconies, slightly changed over the years and colored differently.
And here are some archive pictures of how it looked in those years the backlot "Wester Street" during the guided tour at Universal Studios (there is also a more recent image).

Turning the corner, you pass by the backlot "Western Street" to the backlot "Denver Street". Below you can see an enlargement of the map, where is already visible the big barn.
In the next images you can see the comparison between a frame extracted from the episode and the image taken by me. You see very well that the barn is perfectly the same, aside from the shape, also the words in the facade (JANKS, LIVERY, etc.) have been redone but are always the same.

And here are some archive pictures of how it looked during the 90s the backlot "Denver Street" during the guided tour at Universal Studios.

Below you can see an enlargement of the map where you can see with more detail the set "European Street". From this road, you can see Michael on board KITT while talking on video call with Devon.

In the next images you can see the comparison between a frame extracted from the episode and the image taken by me. Behind KITT you can see some buildings, also present in the most recent photo: the color has changed, but the buildings have kept the same shape.

Below a higher definition picture I took during my visit to Universal Studios in 2009.

And here are some pictures found on Internet of how it looked today the backlot "European Street" during the guided tour at Universal Studios.

Below you can see an enlargement of the map where you can see with more detail the set "Curse of the Mummy's Tomb". During the chase with Phantom of the Opera 28, Michael slips into a tunnel that begins to turn on itself. Of course it is a scenic effect, and this set is an attraction that is part of the guided tour at Universal Studios. During the filming of "Knight Rider", this set was not based on Egyptian theme, but it was called "The Glacier Avalanche" and reproduced a completely frozen tunnel. It was also used in the TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man".
In the next images you can see the comparison between a frame extracted from the episode and the image taken by me. KITT is about to enter the tunnel (where you can still see the old setting in the ice) while on the right you can see the new Egyptian-themed setting.
In the next images you can see the comparison between a frame extracted from the episode and the image taken by me. KITT is already inside the tunnel, which begins to turn on itself. In the picture on the right the same visual effect captured by my camera.

In the next image you can see the same tunnel used in the TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man", in the episode "The Secret of Bigfoot".
In December 2013 the Mummy’s Tomb has been demolished to make way for the Fast & Furious Supercharged attraction. The first tunnel opened in 1975 and was themed as The Glacier Avalanche, inspired by the Clint Eastwood movie ‘The Eiger Sanction’. In 1997, the tunnel was rethemed as the Dante’s Peak Volcano mine shaft. In May 2001, the last theming, The Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb, was introduced.

This is an aerial map of the area where once time there was the Mummy tunnel, where instead now you can see the new buildings of the attraction "The Fast & The Furious".

And here we reach the last particularity of this episode. This is not a real set, but a pavilion and precisely the "Stage 3". I have not been pleased to visit it directly, but in this case, the comparison that I will be among the images extracted from "Knight Rider" and the extracted images from "Back to the Future". However, here you can see part of the map to figure out where is located the Stage 3 within the Universal Studios.

Below you can see an enlargement of the map where you can see with more detail the "Stage 3".
And here we are the peculiarity: while Michael arrives, aboard KITT, to the "Stage 3", in the background you can see two statues in the shape of puma we know very well: yes, these are the same statues that we have seen and reseen on the Tower Clock in the movie "Back to the Future". After all, in Hollywood you do not throw away anything!

And here are some pictures of how it appears today the "Stage 3".
