Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974) |
 |
|
After the weekend, today I want to propose you another movie of the 70s, "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" became a "cult" in America since its appearance in the theater, while in Italy was virtually unknown or forgotten, until last year the AutoWorld has released a 1:18 diecast model of the yellow Charger used in the movie: at that point, even those who in Italy had never seen or had never heard it, began to quote it as a classic of 4-wheels cinematography. It a shame because the film is worth a lot, also because it has left its mark in other films, for example in "Death Proof" by Quentin Tarantino, where one of the cars of the main character has the same license plate (938-DAN) of the yellow Charger. The plot is rather simple: a penniless pilot of racing cars, unable to afford a race car, decide together with his mechanic to put in place the kidnapping of the wife of a rich local businessman. Then will come a daring escape from the police and during the trip they will meet Mary, a girl that will create more trouble to the two boys. It's a movie that I loved always, for its simplicity but also for the taste a bit bitter that strikes the viewer at the end of the film: that's why I realized the replica of the yellow Charger in 2008. In the following picture, you can see the replica that I realized eight years ago, the model produced and sold by AutoWorld and the BluRay box set of the film (Italian version). Even today this version is quite widespread, so if you have not already in your collection, run immediately to buy it on Amazon: with about 10 euro you'll take home a classic of the 70s that will give you 90 minutes of fun and adrenaline!
