DeLorean DMC-12: AutoArt vs. Sun Star
Today, I want to propose you a new comparison, this time between the DeLorean DMC-12 produced by AutoArt and the DeLorean DMC-12 produced by Sun Star. In this case, it's not the model used in the "Back to the Future", but the normal road model. I hope you will appreciate it!

Project "Automan": Lamborghini Countach LP400
The idea of making the "digital" car used in the TV series "Automan" I had it a long time ago seeing the model created by a fellow collector, Ighi (in the Link section you will find his website "ModellismoTV"). To do that I had taken a Lamborghini Countach LP500 produced by Burago, the same used by Ighi. However, for one reason or another, I have never taken to working as it should. These days talking to another fellow collector, Nicola, advised me to take the LP400 version produced by Kyosho, model much more correct to replicate the car of the TV show and much more detailed. However, on the Internet I found almost always models painted yellow, orange or white and needed to be completely repainted. Given the quality of the model, I did not want to take it apart and completely repainted, perhaps risking to ruin the model ... So, after a series of search, I could find in Germany a model already painted in black, is expected to arrive next week, then I will try to figure out how to make the blue lines that run through the edges of the body. I found a tape produced by 3M 2mm wide and reflective: it could be a great solution! Next week I will update you on how I intend to proceed. Have a good day!

Back to the Future, Knight Rider and Street Hawk - Part IV
Like any good thing, we came to the end of this virtual tour of the "Universal Studios" set used in the trilogy of "Back to the Future" and the TV series "Knight Rider" and "Street Hawk". However, as I mentioned earlier, this is not just an end itself, because in the coming weeks there will be other episodes on the backlot of the "Universal Studios"! So do not be afraid that we will still have a lot to talk about this topic! Click on the map to see next in detail the comparison of buildings used in "Back to the Future", "Knight Rider" and "Street Hawk". Have a good fun!

5000000!
After about 8 years (with a pause of some years...), in the previous days Hollywood 1:18 Wheels celebrated 5000000 visits. This number means that every day this site has an average of 1590 visits: it`s an awesome result and I'm greatful to all the people that periodically visit it to read my posts, to observe my models and my "works in progress". Thank you very much, my friends!! I hope to continue to accompany your days with this amazing theme!

Backlot/Courthouse fire
As promised, our virtual tour through the backlot of the Universal Studios is not complete. As I told you in the previous episodes, this set has suffered two major fires in 1990 and in 2008, because the buildings and structures that govern them are completely made of wood (for simplicity of construction and modification) and then painted to appear concrete and bricks: if this is usefull to contain the construction costs, also increases the risk of fire also for a simple spark. In both fires, most of the buildings of the backlot went destroyed, leading to the need of having to rebuild. The good thing is that, in both fires, the main building (the Courthouse) has never been destroyed! Click on the map to see next in detail the the damages done by the fire in 1990 and 2008. Enjoy the reading!

"Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History", the book!
I quickly showed you this book ("Back to the Future: The Ultimate Visual History") a few weeks ago, on the anniversary of the October 23, 2015, when Marty and Doc came in the future on board of the DeLorean from the movie "Back to the Future ". Today I want to dedicate it more attention, mostly because it is a really interesting book that can not miss into the collection of every fan of this awesome movie franchise. The book, printed only in English (but it's easy to read, even for those who are not native speakers), comes with a hard cover that gives solidity to the book and the paper used is thick with glossy print, characteristic that gives a better quality to the images. Speaking of pictures, there are hundreds and hundreds of images, most of which are unpublished and taken in the backstage of the filming, so it's nice to see scenes seen in the movies, but from other points of view. The book also is organized into four major sections: the first three related to the realization of each movie, while the last concerns the construction of the attraction "Back to the Future: The Ride" (built in the Universal Studios in Los Angeles , Orlando and Japan) and the animated series "Back to the Future". About the realization of each individual film, it's described in chronological order every single week of processing, describing the order with which every individual scene have been filmed and telling many curiosity about every single scene or each individual element built specifically for the three movies (like the DeLorean, the Hoverboard and many other gadgets, which also shows the sketches drawn before the implementation). Furthermore, to make it even more unique and interesting this book is the presence inside of a lot of copies of props such the fading Marty's photography, the letter that Marty writes to Doc to save him from the Libyans, the flyer of the clock tower and many more ... the only flaw is that these elements are bonded (with rubbery glue but easily removable) to the pages of the book: would have been better to put an envelope attached to the book where they can store without the risk of losing or damaging them (as was done for the book "Terminator Vault: the Complete Story Behind the Making of the Terminator and Terminator 2", but I'll show this in a few days). Finally, as I said earlier, this book is fabulous and it's really a focal point for all fans of "Back to the Future" and as Christmas approaches, it could also be a wonderful Christmas gift!

A smile from Andrew
Do you remember my friend Andrew, the American child of which I spoke to you in 2009? Today has definitely grown up, he's fine and I stayed in touch with his mother who keeps me up to date on his progress. For Christmas I wanted to send him a small gift to hang on his Xmas tree and watching the smile it seems he like it very much! This is the aspect I love most of Christmas, give a smile to those you love, even if there is an ocean that separates us!

Back to the Future and Gremlins
Few days left before Christmas and it seemed right to offer you this virtual tour during this particular period of the year. After analyzing the locations of Universal Studio used in "Back to the Future" and the TV series "Knight Rider" and "Street Hawk", today I will compare the same locations with a typical Christmas movie, shot more or less the same time of "Back to future": "Gremlins". Happy reading and I recommend you... be careful... don't get them wet... don't expose to bright light... and don't ever feed them after midnight! Click on the following picture to see next in detail the comparison of buildings used in "Back to the Future" and "Gremlins". Enjoy the reading!

Countach Mania!
Last madness before Christmas! After receiving the Lamborghini Countach LP400 produced by Kyosho, I was really impressed by the excellent level of detail of this model. So I decided to make two more purchases, bringing home two more Countach (one black and one red), this time the LP500 version. They will serve to make the two Countach used in the first two films of the series "The Cannonball Run". Surely thay come after the Christmas holidays, but do not worry ... I will have to show you a lot of other diecast models in arrears during the holidays!
