I'm back... in a new house!

I'm back! After a long absence from the pages of this site, I'm finally back! A lot of things has happened over the years that have kept me busy and away from my hobbies, but my passion for the diecast models and for movies/TV shows has never dropped!
Among the various changes that have occurred in my life, I moved house together with my girlfriend and finally I have a room where I can give vent to all my passions. Today I propose you a small virtual tour in my room, then in the next few days I will show you all the news related to my collection, since in these days I'm adding a new showcase Detolf to accommodate a lot of other beautiful diecast models! I hope to continue with you this new stage of my life in the world of 1:18! Stay tuned!

Light on!

I finally installed the new showcase Detolf: I have already made the change to add 4 additional shelves, but this time I also decided to add lights to my 4 cabinets. The choice fell on the LED lights produced by Ikea denominated DIODER. The result is not bad, although I was hoping they did a little more light especially to the lower shelves. The advantage is that aside from the main cable, I managed to hide all the other cables from view and then the installation is not very invasive.
So now that the new showcase is ready, I need only to fill it with other 24 awesome diecast models!

Another signed General Lee

Do you remember the signed General Lee that I bought at the beginning of 2008 (you can see it in the picture shown below)? It had the signatures of many of the actors of the series "The Dukes of Hazzard": Catherine Bach (Daisy), John Schneider (Bo), Tom Wopat (Luke), Rick Hurst (Cletus), Sonny Shroyer (Enos), James Best (Rosco) and the designers who originally conceived the General Lee, George Barris. However, On this car there are no the autograph of some other actors of the series (of course among those still alive) so I was able to buy a General Lee signed by Byron Cherry (Coy Duke in the series), one of two cousins who replaced Bo and Luke during the beginning of the fifth season. I've always loved the series "The Dukes of Hazzard" and all its episodes, including those of the two new cousins (some of whom also had some great stories) so I could not make me miss this piece in my collection.
It will still take a bit before this diecast model arrivals in my collection, but for now here's a preview (although probably Byron add a dedication with my name). Stay tuned ... it's just one of the many new features coming in the next few weeks!

USA 2013: Location NY (Part 1)

During these years of "silence", I had to temporarily give up some my passions, but I still managed to do, along with my girlfriend, some traveling in my beloved United States of America, in search of some locations used in serial TV or movies. I will not give you any info about the destinations, but week after week I will add a bit of pictures. For each photo, you will find in the upper left corner the name of the TV series/movie in which the location is.
In this first part of images I will show you some places I visited during a trip to New York in 2013: some of them there had already shown during my trip in 2008, but I could not resist to come back! In this first collection, you will find pictures relating to the following locations of the TV show/movies: Ghostbusters, I Am Legend, Madagascar, Home Alone 2, The Jeffersons, Diff'rent Strokes, The Cosby Show (under renovation), Friends, Sex & The City, A Breakfast at Tiffany's, Third Watch, Big and Third Person.
For now enjoy this first part of images, in the next days will follow many other locations in other parts of the US! Enjoy the gallery

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry now in stock!

The long-awaited Dodge Charger used on the movie "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" is finally available in 1:18 scale and in these days eBay is flooded with ads related to this model. They are made by AutoWorld using the very detailed "Authentic Series" tooling, and of course they come in movie theme packaging. Of course I'll try to add it to my collection as soon as possible, but in the meantime I like to compare it to the version I made in July 2008.
Think I had a good idea?

USA 2013: Location Philadelphia (Rocky)

Here we are with a new episode of my travels in the US in search of locations used in movies/TV series. This time, as you can see from the picture, it's the turn of Philadelphia and then the location will all be referred to a unique series of movies that made Philadelphia icon in the movie scene: we are talking about the saga of Rocky. In this gallery of images taken in May of 2013, you will see the famous staircase where Rocky run to go to the square of the Art Museum, the statue of Rocky appeared in the third chapter of the saga, the City Hall, the Rittenhouse Square Park where Rocky jumps the benches, the Italian market, the Irish Pub and Rocky's Restaurant (appeared in the sixth and final chapter), the Church of St. Thomas Aquinas where Rocky seeks comfort in the words of the pastor, the houses inhabited by Rocky and Adriana in the first two chapters of the saga, the Mickey'gym and the animals shop where Adriana worked.
For a lover of this saga, it was a great pleasure to be able to tread the same scenes of a myth like Rocky! Good vision and enjoy with this gallery!

One comes, one goes!

For the first time, one of the diecast model of my collection was sold, but only to make space for another. Being out the official version of the Plymouth Road Runner used by Daisy Duke, I thought to buy it, but selling the Plymouth Road Runner black limited edition that I bought in January 2008. Below you can see the pictures I took alongside the two models, prior to the shipment of what I sold. I was a little sorry, because it was with me for several years, but in the end (for space reasons) I had to make space for the new arrival and having the official one I wouldn't definitely converted it.
Soon, when the weather conditions will allow me to take pictures outdoor, I will show you in detail the new purchase. Enjoy the pictures!

Ford Mustang: we put together the pieces!

Some weeks ago I came into possession of this Ford Mustang 1968 "Bullit". The special feature of this model was that the hood was completely broken into several pieces (exactly 6 pieces). Having already two Ford Mustang "Bullitt" (one produced by ERTL and the other produced by AutoArt) I thought it would be useless to fix it to restore its original appearance, but it would be better to fix it and modify it to create a new model that is not in my collection. After several days of searching, I had the right idea: this will become the Mustang Ford Mustang "Lucifer" used in the episode 7 of the first season of the TV series "The Dukes of Hazzard". To do this I adjusted the hood with the two-component epoxy adhesive for metals and with sandpaper I leveled all the differences that had formed, creating a smooth surface. In the next days I will completely remove paint in the rest of the body and I will create the large air intake at the center of the hood. Stay tuned because I will post many updates about this model and many others news!

A tresure in a box

These days, doing a little order among the various boxes remained closed after the move, I found the 6 numbers of the magazine Telefilm Retro published since November 2006. Unlike today, where we can still live our memories through TV series on DVD/Bluray and thematic channels (although unfortunately the legendary Fox Retro on Sky has closed its doors the first days of January), at that time one of the only ways to remember the incredible years of unforgetted television series, was just flip through the pages of this legendary magazine. For each decade (1970, 1980 and 1990) were conceived two volumes: in addition to presenting the tabs and the items of every famous show, also had the headings on the most striking facts, on fashions and habits of those years. Leaf through it was like taking a trip back in time, going back baby for a few minutes!
If interested, because now it is rare magazines, I was thinking of making scans into PDF of each of them, so as to make them available to who has never had in his hands or those who look for years but has never found a copy. If you are interested, then, write in the comments, so I'll see if and when do it! Now enjoy the covers!

MOPAR and Dukesfest 2010

For many years the posters about the "MOPAR & Dukesfest" (relating to the years 2010 and 2011) are left on the first page of this site. Then, because of family problems that I faced from 2012 onwards, I have not been able to participate to the organization of this event. I realized, though, that there have never shown the photos from that event. This week, I begin by showing you the pictures relating to the edition of 2010, along with some images from the magazine "Crusing", published in early 2011. Among the various images, appear just as some of the models exhibited by me under a gazebo, just at the entrance of the event.
Good vision and next week with pictures of the edition of 2011!

A new great idea!

Waiting to continue to work on the Ford Mustang "Lucifer," I had a bit particular idea... I purchased these items from a seller from Varese: for now I will not tell you anything, to see if you can guess what I have in my mind, but I will give you some clues by publishing the following photos. Tomorrow, I'll tell you how I'm going to use these electronic parts. Happy Sunday!

Happy Birthday "The Dukes of Hazzard"

36 years ago, in the USA, on CBS it cames broadcasted the first episode ("One armed Bandit") of the TV series "The Dukes of Hazzard": it was the first time the world saw the Duke`s family and the famous General Lee. So, today I want to tribute this great TV series and all its characters. Happy birthday "Dukes of Hazzard"!!!

A SUPER Elite ECTO-1!

As promised, today I give you a preview about how I used the two LED badges I showed you Sunday. After purchasing the ECTO-1 (the Elite version) used in the movie "Ghostbusters 2" I was impressed by the level of detail, but I did not like the 2 fake LED panels that equipped this model. So, I started looking for something that could replace them: the ones I have found are the same length and a little higher, but once turned on they make really fabulous and unique that model. And to complete the change I just programmed the texts used in the movie. I am very satisfied with this customization: it was cheaper, it was simple to add but gave much more realism to this model! If you want, tell me what you think!
