I'm back!

Unfortunately, my holidays are finished... Yesterday, I came back from the USA: I'm very tired for the incredible excursions in New York, Philadelphia, Atlantic City and Cape May (yes, we have modified our initial plans and we have not visited Washington and Baltimora... we will visit them the next time!!). However, I can only say the United States are awesome: it's a completely different style of life (in comparison with the Italian life) and I like it very much. We visited a lot of places in NY (Times Square, the Empire State Building, the Liberty Statue, Ennis Island, Ground Zero, Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, Central Park, Brooklyn, etc.) and as I promised before my departure, I've included in my trip 3 important stages: the Cosby Show house, the Friends building and the Ghostbusters Headquarter (you can see some pictures about these buildings clicking on the images below). In the next days, I will post all the other pictures about my holiday, especially because I met a lot of particular things, like the real car (the Mach 5) used for the new movie "Speed Racer".

Speed Racer

As announced in my previous post, today I want to show you some pictures taken in NYC the 30th April c.o. the "Toys 'R us" shop situated in Times Square. I visited this shop with my girlfriend and visiting the upstairs floor, I found this incredible "Mach 5" used in the recent movie "Speed Racer": as you can see, around the car there a lot of toys (puppets, diecast models, gadgets, etc.) concerning the movie. The car looks good, however some details are missing (like the rearview mirror on the left).

Saga completed

These models are not novelty, but I received them in the last days: the first one is the DMC DeLorean used in the movie "Back to the Future"; the second one is the DMC DeLorean used in the movie "Back to the Future 3". With the other DMC DeLorean from the "Back to the Future II", now I completed the 3 cars used in the "Back to the Future" saga. I know there is another version on railroads, but I don't if I will buy it in the future. For the time, I enjoy with them.

American reminisces

This period is very quiet for the diecast novelty, so I decided to publish some pictures about the chartered car I used in my USA holidays... First of all, using the site eNoleggioAuto I've rented a 2005 Dodge Charger, using a Dollars garage located in West 52nd Street, Manhattan (New York). However, when I was gone to get the car, they given me a wonderful blue Chrysler 300 C Tour!! I drove it for 4 days and I need to say it's a great car. Enjoy with the pictures!!

My last purchase and a new collector

To conserve a little souvenir about my last holidays, I decided to order on eBay a diecast model of the Chrysler 300 C produced by Motormax/Maisto: I found it in France and it has the same color of the real car I drove in the USA. I know it's not a movie/TV car, but I turn a blind eye just this once! I will try to create a good replica of the real car adding the license plates, the correct interior color and some other details.
Moreover, the last night I received some pictures from "joytoy", an assiduous visitor of my site, so I added his images on the "Collectors" section. Enjoy with them!

The Coyote X

Waiting my last purchase, today I want to show you an unusual model of my collection, regarding the TV series "Hardcastle & McCormick". Considering not even one has produced this car in 1:18 scale, I bought this 1:10 model... yes, the accuracy is not high, because this model is only a toy (produced by ERTL in the 1982) but it's a rare model and it's not easy to find a model like this in good condition, so I'm happy to join it with the K.I.T.T. produced by Kenner.

Something different

Today, I want to propose you a funny comparison: this time I don't show you a comparison between diecast models, but I want to show you some famous locations (concerning TV series or movies) I visited during my holiday in the USA. For every picture, I compared it with a real frame captured from the original TV serial/movies. I hope you like it!!!

Music Videos

In this period, I'm watching some old music videos concerning car chases. During my research, I found the awesome video "What It Feels Like For A Girl", performed by Madonna in the 2001 and directed by her housband, Guy Richie. In this video, Madonna races around town using 2 great american cars, a yellow 1978 Chevrolet Camaro and a red 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Yes, the video is a little outrageous: Madonna plays something of a femme fatale Robin Hood, who removes a blank-faced elderly woman from a nursing home; however, at the end of the video, we understand the entire scenario is imagined by the old woman, who fantasizes vengeance for a lifetime of indignities suffered.
In the next days, I will discuss other (new and old) music videos concerning car chases: every suggestion will be accepted!

I ragazzi della 3C

Yesterday, I received some DVDs I purchased some weeks ago. In the package there was the old TV series "I ragazzi della 3C", a funny italian fiction produced in the '80 by Mediaset for 3 years. This TV series tells the story of a group of classmates, enrolled in a Classical High School in Rome. The main characters are nine: Bruno (a fat and clamsy guy), Chicco (a guy flunked a lot of times), Massimo (a fit guy), Sharon (a goddess), Rossella and Daniele (the loving couple), Benedetta (a dark girl) and Elias and Tisini (the grind girls).
The series is very enjoyable but it contains some strange things, compared with the current productions: in every episode, there is a commercial advertising of some products produced by the sponsors: some examples are Cornetto Algida, Twix, Raiders, etc... In particular, the greater sponsor was the Opel (General Motors), so one of the main characters, Chicco, droves (in the first season) a red Opel Corsa GSi and every time the director shot this car, there is an explicit promotion to Opel. I wish to put this car in my collection, but unfortunately, this model is not produced in 1:18 scale...
However, this time I captured only few pictures of the car used in the first season (the Opel Corsa GSi) but in the next days, I will try to publish some pictures of the cars used in the next 2 seasons!!!

I ragazzi della 3C - Part II

A lot of people wrote me to obtain infos on the other cars used in the italian TV series "I ragazzi della 3C". So, I created some snapshots using the original DVDs and I added these new pictures on the previous gallery: now, you can watch the second car used by Chicco in the second season (an Opel Kadett GSi), the car used by Camillo Zampetti (an Opel Omega) and the motorbike used by Daniele (an Aprilia F1A 125; in the first season he droves a white Piaggio Vespa).
If you have other questions, regarding this series, please don't hesitate to mail me!

Music Videos - Part II

Yesterday, the italian band "Bloom 06" released its last music video, called "Un'altra come te". The video is very interesting because, beyond the good music, they used a Knight Rider replica (provided by Edo, an italian guy who lives in Turin - www.supercarkitt.it). In the video, the car chase, in a desert zone, a beautiful girl, with an unexpected conclusion. I invite you to watch this awesome video for 2 reasons: first of all for the car and moreover for the great song, infact I would to remember that the Bloom 06 it's a band composed by two members of the old band "Eiffel 65".

Other details on the Lee1

After a long period, I resumed to work on the "Lee1", infact the model is not yet finished: I need to refine the engine bay adding some details. So yesterday, I painted with black gloss the front traverse like the real "Lee1" and this evening I will paint the orange stripe on the front grill and then I will add other details like the wirings and the battery.

Lee1: The Neverending Story!

As promised, yesterday I corrected other details on the "Lee1". First of all, I painted the front grill with gloss black, then I corrected the edges of the front light's grill: curiously, ERTL produced this model with orange outlines and this is not correct. So, with a lot of patience I accomodated this error.
The next weekend I will go in Verona to meet my girlfriend, but the next week I will continue to work on the Lee1, especially on the engine. Have a nice weekend!!
