Taxxi - Episode 1

In this period I am working on some different cars: as soon as possible I will add additional headlights on the 3 Minis used in "The Italian Job" and then I will apply the "01" decals and the license plate on the SRT Viper used in the Autotrader TV Spot. However, yesterday I received the Peugeot 605 that I will use as a base to carry out the Peugeot used in the movie "Taxxi". The model was kept in the original box, but the paint (probably low quality) must be degraded over time becoming a little sticky and therefore part of the polystyrene has stuck to it. Not bad ... just go completely stripped (I have tested on the bumpers and comes off like butter!). For now I leave you with images of models and the first phase of dismantling. In the coming days I will show you the stages of stripping.

Taxxi - Episode 2

The Peugeot was completely stripped: it was a really easy job. As I wrote in my previous post, the paint came off easily and it took a simple sanded to remove any residue. I also glued and clean the interior and now they look much more attractive! Before proceeding with the painting, I'll create with plasticard the extension of the front bumper and the rear spoiler to be placed on the trunk. It will surely be the most fun and most important stage of this WIP. Probably I will work on it this Sunday, so next week I will start the car paint! Have a nice weekend!

Taxxi - Episode 3

During the weekend, due to some unexpected sudden, I managed only to create the rear spoiler to be placed on top of the trunk. Of course I started with this element because it was definitely the easiest to accomplish. In the next days, I will go on creating even the spoiler for the front bumper. Meanwhile I ordered also a 3mm reinforcing bar to be used as axes for the new wheels: in this way I can also easily lower the trim of the car, since the current hubs are too high. See you next time!

Taxxi - Episode 4

After the policy interlude written yesterday (which I hope bursts like a soap bubble) I went back to work on the Peugeot used in Taxxi. I started to create the front spoiler with plasticard and I put the foundation to create the side flaps. Just to see how it was coming, I tried to place the correct wheels on the model and I must say I am very happy about the result. When the spoiler will be completed and when the car body will be completely painted white, the final result should certainly be of great impact. See you soon with more updates!

Taxxi - Episode 5

Perhaps in this period I am quite inspired, so last evening I worked again on the front bumper of the Peugeot to create the side flaps. I must admit that it took a lot of attention to precisely align the fins, but after one pass of sandpaper, the result satisfies me a lot. Over the weekend I'll work again on this car to try to achieve, always with the plastic card, the taxi sign to be placed on the roof. Once completed also this element, I can finally give a coat of primer and then paint the entire body of a beautiful shiny white!

There is also a curious aspect: searching information and photos of the real machine, I saw that on June 21 the Ottomobile announced the production of a "Taxxi" Peugeot 406 in 1:18 scale made of resin. It has not yet been notified of a possible date of production and sale. I will keep you updated!

Taxxi - Episode 6

During the weekend I almost finished the changes to the Peugeot used in Taxxi. First of all, I created a sign to be placed at the center of the roof using 3 layers of plasticard (1mm): the lower part will be painted silver, while the upper part of white and then I will apply the stickers "TAXI MARSEILLE". I also worked on the chassis, always recreating with plasticard attacks to put the new axes brass. All these parts were then painted matte black to fully integrate the new attacks. I also created 4 plastic discs (which I painted black) to be applied back to every wheel to better hide the axes through the spokes of the wheels. I also did a test reassembling the plastic bumper: I would say that now I need only to paint it!

Taxxi - Episode 7

Small updates on the Peugout used in Taxxi. During the previous days I only managed to apply the primer (with a subsequent pass of fine sandpaper) to the entire body, including new aerodynamic parts. Now I just have to find time to paint definitely the car with the shiny white paint. In the coming days will come more updates: see you next time!

Taxxi - Episode 8

Finally the Peugout used in Taxxi reached the paint shop! The result pleases me very much, I must say that after spending two coats of white and one transparent, the final effect is very pleasant! I proceeded to paint black also pillars of the doors and the air intake located at the center of the front bumper. I proceeded to paint black even the windows, but in this case I reserve to do some correction because the result does not satisfy me very much. However, step by step, we are almost in the finishing straight ... in a few days the Peugeout will be ready and will finally earn a place in my cabinet!

Taxxi - Episode 9

Ok, we are almost to the finishing line! I reassembled the Peugeot used in Taxxi but there are still some details to consider it complete. First, I have to do the black protective bars on the side, I have to apply the headlights and fog lamps, and I paint and apply the sign on the roof of the car. As you can see I have already applied the plates used in the first film, and in the next days I will create the Peugeot logos also be applied on the front and back of the car. As I said in my previous message, I was not happy with the way they had come the windows painted gloss black: I have then gone with fine sandpaper to remove all the paint applied, after which I applied a black adhesive film with the wrapping technique. The final effect is definitely better! See you soon with more updates!

Taxxi - Episode 10

Penultimate update on the Peugeot "Taxxi": I just have to apply the Peugeot logos on the hood and trunk, then I can feel concluded this model. In these pictures you can see the black stripes applied as protective side and the sign Taxi applied over the roof. For three weeks, this will be my last post: finally I leave for the holidays! We read again in late August with many news! Happy holidays!
