This week I was a little on the run ... the work kept me busy every day, so I managed to find a bit of free time this weekend to talk about my last strange idea! As I had done a few years ago, I came back the urge to create a model a bit more accurate of "Street Hawk", the motorkbike of the legendary TV series of the 80s, starring Rex Smith in the role of Jesse Mach. This time, I decided to do a "merge" between two existing models on the market: the usual Honda XR400R scale 1:18 produced by Maisto and a vintage toy of "Street Hawk" produced by LJN Toys in 1984. Before someone cries shame on the fact that I will modify a vintage toy (which today circulating in a few specimens) will I point out that I own two: a perfect MIB, still sealed in its original packaging and a "loose" with some signs due to the time . The idea will be to remove from the 80s toy the wheels and its forks, creating the space to accommodate the chassis of the Honda XR 400 R. As you can see from the pictures, the dimensions are pretty much perfect and a couple of more precise wheels and a new paint that will hide the flaws, this model will shine again, modernized and brought in the 2000s!    Last night, after work, I found the inspiration to start working on "Street Hawk": Dremel armed I took my courage and started to "dismember" the toy version of Street Hawk and the Honda XR 400 R. I must admit that it was not difficult, partly because the plastic under the blows of the Dremel has easily give up: I safely removed the small golden wheels and their forks. Then I proceeded to remove all the unnecessary from the Honda XR 400 R, leaving only the chassis. I then started the "fusion" between the two bikes and as you can see in some images in the gallery, the combination of the two is perfect! I'm really pleased... I think this time will emerge a truly successful model! Stay tuned in the coming days because I will update with new pictures on the state of play! Enjoy with the pics!

   During the last weekend I continued to work on "Street Hawk": I finished at last to empty the inside of the shell to allow me to easily position the new chassis with larger wheels. I created then with plasticard also an indoor slide attached to the body that will serve to accommodate the headlight closed or open; moreover, always with plasticard, I created a support that will keep the bike upright, since I have eliminated the stand. I then proceeded to place the two parts of the body on the frame and as you can see from the pictures, the result is excellent. I have yet to apply stucco to close the old holes on the left side and make a few shots of sandpaper (as I did on the right side to remove markings indicating the brand and the production year), then I can move on to painting (before the primer and then the flat black paint).    The work on "Street Hawk" proceed: last night I disassembled the new chassis and the bodywork after having passed it with fine sandpaper and then I plastered the previous holes for the screws on the left side. At that point, I was ready to switch everything to painting process: I have given 3 coats of flat black paint and tomorrow should be completely dry, ready for a new assembly test. Then I'll have to find a silver marker to remake the side details and one gold marker for the 2 wheels. I hope that for now the result will satisfy you! See you soon with some other update!

   While waiting to receive at home the last purchases, I am continuing to work on "Street Hawk". Yesterday I finally fixed the two parts of the body to the frame and I must admit that the result satisfies me a lot! In the coming days I will define all the silver details both on the motorcycle body, both on the pilot suit. After that I will apply the stickers on the top of the tank and also I will complete the front headlight that, thanks to the slide that I created internally, can be placed both in the open and closed position. The road to complete it will not be short (because I can not devote too much time after work), but I hope to show it finished as soon as possible! Now I leave you to the pictures!
