Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974)
After the weekend, today I want to propose you another movie of the 70s, "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" became a "cult" in America since its appearance in the theater, while in Italy was virtually unknown or forgotten, until last year the AutoWorld has released a 1:18 diecast model of the yellow Charger used in the movie: at that point, even those who in Italy had never seen or had never heard it, began to quote it as a classic of 4-wheels cinematography. It a shame because the film is worth a lot, also because it has left its mark in other films, for example in "Death Proof" by Quentin Tarantino, where one of the cars of the main character has the same license plate (938-DAN) of the yellow Charger. The plot is rather simple: a penniless pilot of racing cars, unable to afford a race car, decide together with his mechanic to put in place the kidnapping of the wife of a rich local businessman. Then will come a daring escape from the police and during the trip they will meet Mary, a girl that will create more trouble to the two boys. It's a movie that I loved always, for its simplicity but also for the taste a bit bitter that strikes the viewer at the end of the film: that's why I realized the replica of the yellow Charger in 2008. In the following picture, you can see the replica that I realized eight years ago, the model produced and sold by AutoWorld and the BluRay box set of the film (Italian version). Even today this version is quite widespread, so if you have not already in your collection, run immediately to buy it on Amazon: with about 10 euro you'll take home a classic of the 70s that will give you 90 minutes of fun and adrenaline!

Ferrari Testarossa (Kavinsky "ProtoVision") by Kyosho
In this period, since I did not buy diecast models about the thematic of films and TV series, I decided to buy some exotic car models of the 70s and 80s that I always loved when I was a kid, especially Ferrari and Porsche. Because in the past I had already bought the Ferrari F40 produced by Kyosho and I appreciated the level of detail of this model, I decided to buy another Ferrari I've always considered one of the finest ever leave the factory in Maranello. This is the Ferrari Testarossa produced by Kyosho, in this case the second edition with double side mirrors and in red painting (having already the first white version monospecchio used in "Miami Vice" and manufactured by Hot Wheels). Wanting to still find a link to the issue that normally stretch, I decided to connect this car to a music video of Kavinsky, "Protovision", a French record producer specialized in the production of electronic music. If you do not know watch the video below, or otherwise go to listen to some of his wonderful pieces from his latest album "Outrun" inspired precisely from the legendary videogame "Outrun" of 1986, where the main character raced aboard a red Ferrari Testarossa. Happy listening!

"Back to the Future" by Funko
Last Friday was my birthday and my friends/co-workers have made me a gift related to my passion: the DeLorean DMC-12 and Marty McFly from "Back to the Future" in the stylized version created by Funko. Of course, the detail is not what we are used to see on our beautiful diecast models, but I must admit that it's very nice and beautiful to expose. So I can not hide that I liked so much that I decided to order the good Doc, to complete the mythical couple of our trilogy!

The Junkman / Deadline Auto Theft / Gone in Seconds 2
New week, new appointment with the section dedicated to the "cult" movies in BluRay/DVD. After showing a few days ago the BluRay and DVD of "Gone in 60 Seconds (1974)", today is the turn of a DVD containing the other 3 fim directed by H.B.Halicki: "Fast as Hell". This DVD, ordered from the United States, includes the film "The Junkman", "Deadline Auto Theft" and "Gone in 60 Seconds 2" (the latter, unfortunately, never completed due to the death on the set of the same Halicki). These three films are never landed in Italy and it is for this reason that there isn't a dubbed version in Italian language. However, these 3 films are worthy of attention, especially for frantic chase scenes inaugurated with the first "Gone in 60 Seconds". To accompany the presentation of this DVD, I chose one of my recent purchases, the Ferrari 365 GT4 BB produced by Kyosho (which I will introduce better in the coming days) that appears at the beginning of "The Junkman" and during some other scenes of the film. Enjoy and see you soon!

Little cost, maximum gain - Episode 1
After showing the DVD of "Fast as Hell", last night I watched the first movie content in it, "The Junkman": I had seen it so many years ago from a low-quality file downloaded from the Internet and view it in the high quality restored version has been a real surprise, almost a rediscovery! As in "Gone in 60 Seconds", there are several chase scenes, two of which are very engaging with an orange 1974 Bricklin SV-1 and a yellow 1981 Corvette C3, always driven by the main character, played by H.B. Halicki. Watching these cars made me do a reflection on the 1:18 scale modeling world and gave me the idea to create a new column that I will submit you regularly on these pages. What is it? Watching this film, I wondered why ERTL when it bought the license of "The Junkman" managed to produce only a model inspired by this film, an orange 1951 Mercury Coupe that has never convinced me and I never bought. In fact, rewatching the movie, I saw that this car in the film has never been used, or rather, you will see a red 1949 Mercury Coupe for a second during a custom car rally, but we are talking about a car completely different from the one produced in 1:18 scale and not even plays a fundamental role within the film: on the contrary, it would be much more logical to use the license of "the Junkman" producing the orange 1974 Bricklin SV-1 or the yellow 1981 Corvette C3, but of course the cost of production (and therefore the related revenues) would be different.
Searching on the internet, I found that ERTL in those years produced a customized 1951 Mercury (Chopped) by George Barris (who even appeared in the credits of the film for providing some cars): well, they simply changed the color to obtain a car that more or less could resemble to the car seen for an instant within the film. In short, little cost, maximum gain! My advice? Before buying a model used in a movie or TV series, read up and try to find information on sites like IMCDB.org. Ok, nothing to say, this is a cute orange Mercury model, but nothing to do with the movie "The Junkman". As for me, I will think to realize the yellow Corvette C3, template widely available on the market and easily replicable.

Ferrari 365 GT4 "The Junkman"
Some days ago I have shown you the DVD about "The Junkman" together with the Ferrari 365 GT4 which appears in the opening credits and in some scenes of the film. Today the time has come to show you in detail this Ferrari! It was produced by Kyosho and as usual just watching the images is useful to see the high level of detail of this model. The interior and the body are made really well, perhaps the only flaw is the engine that in my opinion could be more detailed. However is really a very good reproduction of the actual car, along with other Ferrari of the 70s and 80s, it goes to fill a "big" hole in my collection: certainly the reference with "The Junkman" it is pulled by the hair, but a Ferrari of such beauty was bound to be mine! In addition, at this time I'm going crazy for models with retractable headlights ... it's true, I'm vintage, in every sense!

Rush (2013)
After showing you a "cult" movie of the 70s, today I want to introduce the BluRay edition of a beautiful movie released in 2013, inspired by the world of F1, "Rush". The film was directed by Ron Howard and narrates the rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt during the championships in the mid 70. Personally, I consider it one of the best (if not the best) movie about the world of F1, both for the story told both fidelity (period, cars, vintage style, etc.) with which it was made. Of course, to show you this BluRay, I joined two diecast models of great quality, the Ferrari 312 T2 driven by Niki Lauda (produced by Hot Wheels) and the McLaren M23 driven by James Hunt (produced by Minichamps). Soon I will for each individual model a detailed gallery. Have a nice weekend!

"Black Beauty" by AutoArt
I bought this beautiful "Black Beauty" (a 1965 Chrysler Imperial Crown) produced by AutoArt in the half of last year, but like many other diecast models I haven't still shown it. Slowly I'm making up for lost time, so now it's its turn! The model reproduced by AutoArt represents the "Black Beauty" of the 60s TV series "Green Hornet", including actor Bruce Lee also appeared in the role of Kato, the chauffeur and aide of Green Hornet. The model is really fabulous, has a considerable weight and has many openings (4 doors and the hood). However, in my view, it has some flaws: the trunk can not be opened and the flaps that show the different weapons available to the Green Hornet, can not be closed, as is the case on some James Bond diecast models. For goodness, the model is truly amazing and should be added to your collections, but for about 230 Euros, I expected a little more detail. Now, enjoy the gallery!

"Back to the Future" by Funko
As I already mentioned at the beginning of February, my friends/colleagues had given me for my birthday Marty and the DeLorean from "Back to the Future" produced by Funko. I liked them so much that I decided to complete the set, also ordering the character of Doc Brown. In recent days it has arrived and today I'll show you, with its box, with the rest of the set and with some gadgets related to "Back to the Future". Do not you find it likeable?

2001 Ford Mustang "Bullitt" by AutoArt
A few weeks ago I announced to you that, taken from the "Bullitt" mania, I decided to buy the two Mustang in configuration "Bullitt" released in 2001 and 2008. Today I show you the 2001 version! This diecast model is produced by AutoArt and perfectly reproduces the model put on the market in 2001 to celebrate Steve McQueen and one of the films that made him famous during the late 60s. As the original Mustang used in the movie, this version has a dark green paint and mount the classic 5-spoke wheels. The detail, as every AutoArt model, is really high, maybe just in the engine and in the interior they could do something more. In the coming days I will introduce you the 2008 version, then I'll show along with the legendary Mustang of 1968! Now enjoy the pictures!

OutRun (2013) by Kavinsky
This week, due to some health problems, I was not able to post several articles, so to forgive me (although on Saturday I never do) I wanted to introduce the Ferrari Testarossa produced by Kyosho that I bought a few weeks ago. To present it, I could not approach her to the music album dedicated to her, "OutRun" by Kavinsky. As I mentioned, in fact, this car is a source of inspiration for this French composer who in addition to having dedicated an album, also used it in some videos of his songs. Next week, I will introduce this diecast model in depth instead with the usual gallery of images! I will certainly also apply the license plate "KVNSKY" that you can see in his music video "Protovision". Have a nice weekend!
