68 Ford Mustang GT390: ERTL vs. AUTOart

Today, I want to propose you a new comparison, this time between the '68 Ford Mustang GT390 produced by ERTL and the '68 Ford Mustang GT390 produced by AutoArt (these are the cars used by Steve McQueen in the movie "Bullit"). I hope you will appreciate it!

Lee1 found diorama

On October 11, 2000, Gary Schneider and Travis Bell met Don Shishler in Cummings, GA. Don had some fascinating stories to tell: he told to Gary and Travis the story that a man named Cliff hauled away all the cars that were used in the Dukes episodes when they had completed filming. Don hadn't talked to Cliff in years, but volunteered to call him anyway: Cliff wasn't at home, but his wife told Don that most of those cars had long since been crushed, but she did say that there was an old Charger out there that wasn't orange, but that it did have a 71 on the door. During the first 5 episodes of "The Dukes of Hazzard" series, the Lee1 was repainted in blue and the 71 numbers were painted on the doors. Gary and Travis had discovered what remained of the first General Lee ever built, the LEE1...
During the past few weeks, Paul Dengel (zed4130) wrote me that an english guy was selling on eBay a diorama of how the Lee1 was found by Gary Schneider and Travis Bell. Needless to say that at the end I won the auction and now this beautiful model is in my collection! I take this opportunity to thank Paul and David (the guy who created this diorama).

"MOPAR & Dukes Fest" - 2nd Edition

Yesterday it tooks place the second edition of the "Mopar & Dukesfest" in Cant, an event organized by Giampy and the boys of the "V8epocar". There were some models of the series "The Dukes of Hazzard" (5 General Lees, Rosco P. Coltrane`s car, Uncle Jessie`s van and the Daisy`s jeep). Many fans came to see these wonderful cars, but also all the american cars exposed on the road (Charger, Challenger, Cuda, etc..).
I take this opportunity also to thank Giampy for giving me the opportunity to exhibit my diecast models, the boys of the "V8epocar" for the day spent togheter and Sergio (a user of this site) for having walked many kilometers in order to participate to this event. See you at the next edition!

Am I see double?

No, you don't see double! After the arrival of the '68 Ford Mustang GT390 produced by AUTOart, I decided to buy another '68 Dodge Charger, so now I have 2 pairs of cars of the movie "Bullit". I know, my madness will never end...

Death Race Mustang, body works finished

During the previous days, I finished to work on the nose of the Ford Mustang used in the movie "Death Race". Now nothing more that give it a beautiful coating of primer and then find the right color to paint it...

From Tokyo to Italy on a Chevy

I bought this model towards the end of April, but due to some commitments, I show it only today: that's the '70 Chevy Monte Carlo used in the movie "Tokyo Drift". I haven't particularly appreciated the third movie of the saga "Fast & Furious", but this muscle car is very attractive (especially with this rough color), and so it couldn't miss in my collection.
It's a beautiful model with a good quality/price ratio: the only great flaw is in the steering wheel, chromed and very similar to those mounted on the toy car...

The Mustang with the primer

After one week, I finally found the time to give the primer on the body and all the elements I have added to the Mustang of the movie "Death Race". Now I need only to find a good mat black, adding also a rough effect to the car. It will not be easy!

One of the next projects

A few days ago I received this '70 Dodge Charger Street Machine version. As you can already guess, this model will not remain so much longer: in its destiny, in fact, it's already marked to become the Vin Diesel's car from the fourth movie of the saga "Fast & Furious."
Some parts will be reconstructed (for example, the front nose and the inside cage), while other parts will be transplanted to other models (such the rubbers that will be used to create a General Lee movie version).
