Poveri di Sodio

It's a lot of time I would write this news, but every time I forgot to do it... So, during the last Christmas Holiday, I saw an incredible concert performed by a funny band called "Poveri di Sodio". This band is from Verona (the singer is a friend of my girlfriend) and it's composed by 5 elements: 4 boys and a girl. Their repertoire is composed only by old cartoons or TV series themes, a kind of music dearly loved here in Italy.
For every concert, their drummer (a good printmaker) prepare wonderful posters: in their archive, I found this awesome poster with the General Lee, so I selected it to introduce you this wonderful band!! Visit their site and if you can, try to listen they on a concert!

Coming soon...

In the fall of 2007, NBC revealed that it was relaunching "Knight Rider": it would do this by filming a 2 hour made for tv movie that would air the 17th February 2008. The new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand, an incredible Shelby GT 500) is absolutely the coolest car ever created: its supercomputer capable of hacking almost any system; its weapons systems efficient; and its body thanks to its creators work and nanotechnology is capable of actually shifting shape and color. Plus, its artificial intelligence makes it the ideal crime-fighting partner: logical, precise and possessing infinite knowledge. It is the ultimate car and someone will be willing to do anything to obtain it. The driver of this wonderful car will be Mike Tracer (Justin Bruening), a 23-year-old ex-Army Ranger: having served in Iraq, Mike is now jaded and lost and initially resistant, but thanks to KITT he will change idea...
The story seems to be very interesting and there are a lot of similarity with the old series: now, we need only to wait the 17th February to watch this new amazing pilot/episode on NBC: Knight Rider rides again!!!

Roberto's plastic models

Yesterday, I received some new pictures about some plastic models created by Roberto. Normally, I put this kind of pictures only in the Collectors section, but this time I would show you 2 models of this set: an incredible wrecked General Lee and the famous "71" Charger, alias the Lee1 repainted for the episode "Repo Men". Enjoy yourself with this pictures!!

PicLens on "Hollywood 1:18 Wheels"

Since today, "Hollywood 1:18 Wheels" has a new functionality: I added the PicLens technology to display and browse the pictures. PicLens instantly transforms your browser into a full-screen, 3D experience for viewing images on the web. Photos will come to life via a cinematic presentation that goes well beyond the confines of the traditional browser window. With PicLens, browsing and viewing images on the web will never be the same again.
Actually, I used this technology only in the "Diecast Details" pages, but in the next days, I will extend this functionality to all the site. (Remember: you need to install a plugin on your browser to use this functionality).

This car will be "Death Proof"

Waiting to finish the "Street Hawk" bike, I started a new project, the '70 Chevy Nova used in the "Death Proof" movie. I bought this model the last December, but only this week I found the time to work on it: first of all, I dismantled the model, then I removed all the paint from the body. Afterwards, I painted the body with a mat black and then I added a big white skull on the hood. At the end, I replaced the stearing wheel and the driver's seat with a new racing set.
However, in the next weeks I will work to finish the exterior and I will start to work on the interior, creating the full roll cage and all the others internal details.

Little updates on the Nova

Other few updates on the "Death Proof" Nova: I prepared the license plate (remember: the license plate on this car is JJZ-109. This is the same license plate number that was on the 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback that Steve McQueen's character drove in the 1968 movie "Bullitt"). Moreover, I added the sidemarker lamps and the frontal directional lights. I hope you like it!!

Knight Rider Review

Yesterday, I watched the new "Knight Rider 2008" pilot episode. I need to admit I liked this movie: the atmosphere is the same of the old series, the car is amazing and the main characters are good. The story is very simple and it could be better but I hope they will create absorbing stories if NBC will decide to produce an full series. The Mustang is impressive: a tipical new muscle car, it's fast, it's wiggly and it has a good sound!! KITT is very funny, like the old one and it's a perfect partner for Mike, the new pilot. I loved to see David Hasselhoff at the end of the episode and considering his words, I hope to see him again in the "Michael Knight" role. I think Knight Rider has great potential to became a great TV series. So, stay tuned to understand NBC's intentions.   Moreover, If you want to see this episode with italian subtitles, you can download the SRT file from the "Download" section: in this way, you could perfectly follow all the dialogs and the story of this wonderful new episode. I want to thanks the guy of the Italians Sub Addicted site for their great job.
Lastly, watch the following pictures gallery with a lot of images with the new K.I.T.T. (the pictures came from Jalopnik).

The Road Warrior

Finally, I received one of my last purchases, the awesome Ford XB Falcon (called "The Road Warrior") used in the movie Mad Max: this model is produced by AUTOart and the details level is very high! The paint job is perfect (with a good contrast between the gloss and the mat black), the interior parts are precise, the engine is highly detailed with chrome parts and accurate wirings. Moreover, with the diecast models in the box are included some additional items, like a dog, 2 fuel tanks, a fifth wheel and some dog-food tins.
In my opinion, it's the best diecast model I bought in this year: ok, it's not cheaper, but if you want a good TV/movie cars collection, you need to buy it!!!

The Deathmobile is arrived!

A new arrival at home: this time is the turn of the funny "Deathmobile", the Lincoln Continental used in the movie "Animal House", with John Belushi. When this model was produced by ERTL I decided to wait because it wasn't one of my favourite movie cars, but in the previous weeks, searching on eBay, I found a great occasion: the model was proposed with a very low price, so I bought it immediately and today it's parked in near to my other diecast models!

An insanity idea

In this period, I'm considering to buy a real movie car: it's not so famous like the General Lee or the Batmobile, but it's a great german sport car produced in the '70/'80... It's the awesome Porsche 928 used in the movie "Risky Business", with a young Tom Cruise. I found this car on Internet and I discovered that it's in a car garage near my town. So, the last saturday I was gone to see it with my girlfriend: the body is perfect (with the same paint of the 928 used in the movie), while the interior need a good restoration (the leather seats and the internal tapestry are not perfect). The only doubt is the engine: I'm not an expert of this kind of engines, so in the next weeks I will reassess the car with a friend of my father, a great Porsche connoisseur. I will decide to buy this car only if the engine is in good conditions, otherwise I will consider to search another similar car.

Another great piece for my collection!

Yesterday, I received an email from an affectionate visitor of my site, Sonny: in this message he linked me an eBay auction, where the item of this auction was the rare 1971 "Nash Bridges" Hemi Cuda produced by Highway 61 in only 504 pieces. So, this morning I woke up at 6:20 AM and without problems, I won this auction!!! Another great piece for my collection, thanks a lot Sonny!!!
